This weekend I was on a late night 2 and a half hour flight back home to Denver.
No wifi. No books. Brooke was snuggled up with our baby Vaughn trying to sleep.
And I was bored.
So I did something I don't often do. I scrolled through the 5,000+ photos and videos that were on my phone.
Have you ever done this? It's quite the time capsule. Especially for someone like me who has horrible memory and can't remember what I did last week, much less 6 or 8 months ago.
Over the course of an hour or two, I was able to relive this entire past year. And since I only share about 1 out of 100 photos I take on social media, I thought it'd be fun to share a few of the more random pics in my iPhone in a "photo diary" type blog post.
Starting with this gem:

Okay, maybe not the best way to start out this blog post but let me explain. I have this group of guys I'm on a texting chain with. Just about every day we bust each other's balls and try and make each other laugh (quite successfully I might add) and we often share screenshots. I think in this one I was trying to explain one of my recent taco trips gone bad.

Uber had a deal this day where they would deliver puppies to your office for some fun play time. I ordered some obvi and got a tremendous Instagram-worthy photo of this.
However. What I didn't share was that the dogs ended up peeing and shitting all over our fancy boardroom. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Confession time. You know that thick, luscious blonde hair I have at the age of 40? It's actually because I use Nioxin shampoo. And apparently I use gallon-sized jugs of it judging from this random pic in my phone. I believe Brooke sent this to me after opening up an Amazon Prime box that day and thinking to herself "WTF Ben!" (which happens often at the Bacon house)

I had forgotten about Baylor's March Madness last minute meltdown to 12th seeded Yale until seeing this pic. I snapped this to make fun of this Yale bro but about 5 minutes later I was making the same pose minus the sweater.
By the way, Baylor basketball is really, really, really good this year. Can't wait to see what crushing way they will let me down this March!

One thing Brooke and I have been working on with our son Owen is his "grit". This day he went ice skating for the first time ever and after falling about 75 times on his butt he was finally able to skate without a walker, the wall or my hand. No tears, just determination. Proud dad moment here.

I jumped into Snapchat earlier this year to keep up with my team of millennials at work and these are a few of my masterpieces. Also, I really miss these guys.

Brooke thinks it's "cute" and "funny" to take photos of me whenever I fall asleep at 8:30pm. In my defense, I wake up at 4:30am. Sue me!!

Two days later Brooke had to see a doctor for some pregnancy stuff and I got her back :)

One of our favorite families is the Gilpatricks and their super athletic and talented daughter Reese is friends with our daughter Sloane. This was them at the end of their Kindergarten school year. What cracks me up about this photo is that Sloane is actually older than Reese. Apparently we make really small kiddos :)

This was the day we left the hospital with baby Vaughn and this picture was the "Oh crap" moment when I realized we actually had four kids.
August 13, 2016
In August we hit Steamboat Springs for a little summer getaway and took the whole fam out for putt-putt one night. In maybe my worst athletic showing of all time, my wife beat me while wearing a baby in the ergo. Totally embarrassing.

In my first business trip working at FlapJacked, I flew out to Southern California for a fitness event. I got to meet hundreds of FlapJacked fans including these ladies!
That night I went over to my friend Telli's house (who's got some guns herself!) and snapped this pic of her recreating the scene :)
September 10, 2016
Speaking of FlapJacked fans, we have tens of thousands around the world who post pictures of themselves and our products out on Instagram. Which is amazing and mind-blowing and sometimes creepy.
But mostly it's awesome. How about this badass mama breastfeeding and eating FlapJacked pancakes AT THE SAME TIME!!

This was from school picture day and a great synopsis of how boys and girls are so different in how they approach having their picture taken. Owen didn't even bother to fix his hair after gym class.

On this night I was completely blown away at a Chance the Rapper concert in Denver. Here's one of the videos I shot on my phone and I'm guessing he will do this song on SNL in two weeks. Just incredible.

Every soccer season the kids get their pics taken and me and Brooke aways order the cheapest, smallest package they offer. This spring, Broomfield Soccer screwed up and gave us a "Fathead" sized wall poster of Wynnie instead (worth about $100). We laughed for 5 solid minutes when we opened it up. In November we finally put it up in the kid cave under our basement stairs.

And bringing this blog post full circle. This was the flight this weekend where I was scrolling through photos and got the idea for this post. Then I decided to add one more to the list :)
Maybe using the flash wasn't the best idea. Anyway, that's all for this week. Until next time...
What I'm listening to:
One of my absolute favorite songs of 2016. I think this might be country?
